London fashions identical tiwn battalions of The Establishment Brigade and The Edgy Breed have not regularly enjoyed the happiest of relationships, widely separated as they mostly are by issues such as commercialism, creativity, age and attitude.

After all, what could a multi-million bruise association coming the second century have in usual with a two-year-old college of music operation existent on hope, passion and the clientele of a handful of indie rock-babes?

But London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2010/11, that accomplished last Thursday, saw the dual before hostile forces joined in marriage. Eye-dazzling, digital prints one after another the pioneering tour by the late, good Alexander McQueen. At the conflicting finish of the scale was renewed importance on handwork, together with inventive collages of fabric, fur, tanned hide and edging and hand-embroideries, that was quite clear at Christopher Kane and Erdem.

Sheepskin, lace, leather, patent, fur; wire and spider web knits; digital prints; tweed, plaid and check; texturised finishes; cut-outs, slogans, zips, straps and buckles; emerald, olive, rust, lilac-to-purple; grey, black, cream; cropped boleros, drifting jackets, troops suiting, parsimonious dresses; lead lace-ups; the super-chic workboot; bigger bags.
